  • Ordained minister
  • Biker

BIOGRAPHY

Billy Rivers is an ordained minister, an engaging speaker, and a champion for the homeless, but he spent many years living a completely different lifestyle. A former biker gang member and hardcore heroin addict, Billy spent more than a decade in prison on a variety of charges, including burglary and smuggling illegal aliens across the U.S. border. After a prison visit from Don Johnson from Cullman, Alabama, and the Christian Motorcyclists Association (CMA), Billy gave his life to Christ and did a complete turnaround.

Upon his release from prison, Billy joined the CMA and eventually served as chaplain of the New Orleans chapter before becoming the chapter’s president. It wasn’t long before his story drew the attention of evangelist Pat Robertson. Pat decided to make a film of Billy’s story for the 700 Club titled, A Hardened Biker Switches Gears (available on YouTube). When the film aired, 574 people called the show and dedicated their lives to Christ.

Today, Billy is dedicated to helping the homeless who live under Interstate 10 in New Orleans. He, along with his wife, Donna, and several ministries in the area, feed them, clothe them, and pray with them.

The bearded, gray-haired biker with a thin build and fifty-three tattoos is not the stereotypical minister or speaker, but the life he has lived and the experiences that turned him into such a devoted follower of Christ have helped him reach people who may not otherwise listen to a traditional minister. Through his A

Hardened Biker Switches Gears Ministry, Billy has shared his message of hope and redemption to thousands across the United States and in several foreign counties. He speaks at churches, prisons, biker rallies, seminars, and conferences.
